Dr Thuy Au

Thuy graduated as a medical doctor with the highest overall rank in her class (1/186) from Can Tho University, Vietnam in 1999. She completed her Master degree in Tropical Medicine at Mahidol University, Thailand in 2003. She was one of the founders of the Vietnamese Family Medicine Association.

Thuy came to Australia in 2006 to commence her PhD on risk factors for cardiovascular disease with the Menzies Research Institute, University of Tasmania. She was ranked highly in the assessment of Overseas Trained Doctors by the Australian Medical Council. She

worked at The Royal Hobart Hospital for three years, then undertook registrar training at various GP practices in Tasmania.

Thuy has authored peer-reviewed journal articles internationally, and is a reviewer for 5 International journals. Thuy is a fellow of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (Specialist GP) as well as having a Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health, Professional Certificate in Skin Cancer Medicine and Primary Skin Cancer Therapeutics. She particularly has an interest in family planning (including Mirena insertion), and Skin Cancer medicine including excisions, but enjoys all aspects of general practice. Thuy calls Australia home and has become part of the community as a devoted GP.

In her personal life Thuy is a wife, a mother, an animal lover and a keen gardener. She loves exploring nature with her family and getting fit.
